Juneteenth celebration

  • Natick Is United P.O. Box 283 Natick, MA 01760 (map)

The Natick Historical Society and Natick is United will co-host a community reading of Frederick Douglass’ powerful 1852 speech, “What to a Slave is the 4th of July?” at 10:30 AM on Natick Common.  Historian and Natick resident, Brenna Greer, will offer an introduction to the speech and facilitate dialogue afterwards. Local drummer Bruno Giles will join us and begin playing around 10:00 am.

The Juneteenth celebration continues on Saturday, June 20 with Natick Center Cultural District’s Juneteenth event on Natick Common from 11:00 AM– 1:00 PM.  There will be delicious food by Mig’s Dogs, fun activities, and musical performances by Drum Nomads. All are welcome!

ASL Interpreting Services will be available during the event.

If you would like to sign up to participate in this event by reading part of the speech (1-3 paragraphs) please sign up here.  All are welcome!  If you have questions please email us at: director@natickhistoricalsociety.org
